چکیده
Long Term Evolution Advanced (LTE-Advanced) network is the continuation of 3GPP-LTE (3GPP: 3rd Generation Partnership Project) and it targets to advanced develop of the requirements of LTE in terms of throughput and coverage. Then, LTEAdvanced is not new as a radio access technology, but it’s an evolution of LTE to enhance the performance. The direct employment of the existing protocols cannot achieve the requirements of LTE-Advanced due to the large-bandwidth and low-latency links used in this network. Therefore, an enhanced congestion control mechanism is proposed in this article to improve the performance of Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) over LTE-Advanced. The proposed algorithm used a new mechanism based on the available bandwidth of the connection to detect the capacity of network path in order to improve the congestion avoidance mechanism. The work in this paper based on using Network Simulator 2 (NS-2) to model the traffics of LTE-Advanced and tests the proposed mechanism. Keywords—TCP;congestion avoidance, congestion control; LTE; LTE-Advanced; NS-2

Improvement of the mechanism of congestion avoidance in mobile networks
Mobile ad hoc network congestion control is a significant problem. Standard mechanism for congestion control (TCP), the ability to run certain features of a wireless network, several mutations are not common. In particular, the enormous changes in the network topology and the joint nature of the wireless network. It also creates significant challenges in mobile ad hoc networks (MANET), density ...
متن کاملA Cross Layer Congestion Control Algorithm in Wireless Networks for TCP Reno-2
In this paper, we discuss a cross layer congestion control technique of TCP Reno-2 in wireless networks. In this both TCP layer and PHY layer jointly control congestion. The PHY layer changes transmission power as per the channel condition, interference received and congestion in the network, whereas the TCP layer controls congestion using Reno-2 window based flow control. Our simulations show ...
متن کاملControlling TCP behavior over lossy links
Many previous attempts to improve TCP performance over lossy links especially error discriminators did not propose a comprehensive response in case of non-congestion drops. In this paper we propose a new algorithm to control TCP congestion window reaction to transmission (non-congestion) drops. This algorithm will be the first step for more comprehensive solution. The new algorithm managed to i...
متن کاملTCP Westwood: End-to-End Congestion Control for Wired/Wireless Networks
TCP Westwood (TCPW) is a sender-side modification of the TCP congestion window algorithm that improves upon the performance of TCP Reno in wired as well as wireless networks. The improvement is most significant in wireless networks with lossy links. In fact, TCPW performance is not very sensitive to random errors, while TCP Reno is equally sensitive to random loss and congestion loss and cannot...
متن کاملTCP-Aware Forward Error Correction for Wireless Networks
This paper studies TCP performance improvement in wireless and heterogeneous networks using Forward Error Correction (FEC) technique driven by TCP semantics. In the proposed scheme, called TCP-aware FEC, the amount of redundancy added to a packet at the sender node corresponds to the level of error protection and is computed as a function of TCP congestion window. The TCP-aware FEC becomes stro...
